mini biography
Pedana continually evolves his artistic persona to reflect profound explorations of the human condition. Born in Umbria, Italy, he exhibited extraordinary musical talent at an early age, composing a symphonic album by age 14. A near-fatal accident at 16 profoundly shaped his worldview, inspiring a relentless drive to pursue art with authenticity and passion.
Pedana's adaptability is a defining characteristic of his career. He began as a drummer and songwriter for the band Anthropos, achieving notable success with the album Strangers of the Nowhere, dedicated to his friend and director Terry Gilliam. Transitioning to a solo career in 2015, he experimented with introspective themes in albums like Ex-Human (2017) and A Sole Existence Reflects Eternity (2019) which was nominated as Best Album at the Independent Music Award in 2019 .
His chameleonic nature reaches new heights with his 2024 magnum opus, Moosehorn Algoreaper. This 18-track masterpiece defies categorization, merging rock, blues, folk, and experimental elements to critique societal superficiality and explore themes of survival and resilience. Recorded in the desolate landscapes of Lithuania, the album reflects his ability to adapt his artistic process to unconventional environments, even crafting instruments to create unique soundscapes. Tracks like “Champagne” and “The Ghost in the Mist” showcase his storytelling prowess, while collaborations with artists like Dan Patlansky add new dimensions to his work
Beyond music, Pedana’s talents extend to filmmaking, with his award-winning short film "Come In" which won the 2018 California Film Award for Best Short Film, earning acclaim for its exploration of moral and societal themes. Starring BAFTA-winning actor and long time friend Ken Stott, the film tells the story of a farmer facing a life-altering decision, captured with minimalist visuals and a haunting score composed by Pedana. Recognized at the Transatlantyk Festival, the film solidified Pedana's versatility as a filmmaker and storyteller.
